Ring Around the Rosie | Ring Around the Rosie began as an intimate photography project, inspired by the birth of my daughter in 2020. This joy came amid a backdrop of global pandemic, armed conflict, economic and environmental crises, and personal loss.

Ring Around the Rosie explores themes interwoven by shared experiences of birth and loss and delves into the complex emotions of profound loneliness and guilt, arising from bringing an innocent child into a world teeming with challenges. It also invites contemplation on the acceptance of death as an inherent facet of life’s cyclical nature, emphasizing that, as humans, we are integral elements of nature—a vast and intri- cate system that always strives for balance, even in the face of difficulties.

Lisa Gervassi, a Franco-Mexican artist born in 1984, graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Paris La Villette in 2009. Self-taught in photography since 2008, she worked in the film industry in Mexico between 2012 and 2016 before settling in Aveyron, where she now devotes herself fully to her artistic practice.

Her work addresses existential themes with an intimate, plastic approach, questioning the complexity of the human condition and our relationship to the world.

Her work has been presented in group exhibitions, including Les Rencontres de la Jeune Photographie Internationale, Les Boutographies, and Centro de la Imagen.

In collaboration with David Fourré (lamaindonne), she published her first book, Mommy, in 2021, following her selection for the Kickstarter x Polka Prize.

In 2024, her series L’Amour Amor received an honorable mention from the PH Museum Women Photographers Grant jury.

With the support of a production grant from the Occitanie Region, she published her second book, Ring Around the Rosie, in 2025.
