Dilucolo Before The Dawn | Before the Dawn is a selection of images exploring the feelings of anxiety and dread felt while raising a family in a world where darkness appears to be prevailing, a world caught in the flow of history, which one can neither hold on to, nor bear to let go of. By exploring the darkness it asks the questions; is finding beauty within the darkness a way to protect ourselves against despair, and could it be that the darkest hour is right before the dawn?

The book Dilucolo “Before the Dawn” was published in June 2025 by Italian publishing house, Grani Edizioni

Ben Osborne is a self-taught photographer living on the edge of the South Downs in East Sussex, England. Working slowly on long-term projects, his work suggests intimate narratives around memory, childhood, parental anxiety, and his family’s place within the landscape. Ben’s work has been twice shortlisted for the OD Photo Prize, shortlisted for the Palm Photo Prize, featured in the Financial Times, and exhibited in a number of galleries.
