General Submission Information
Lucida is eager to see your work!

First of all, we accept all photographic styles and genres. We are looking for bodies of work that are cohesive and thought out. Other than our magazine issues for which a specific theme or call may be posted from time to time, we leave the theme open to reduce barriers and limitations. Submissions must be photographic or lens-based. Both digital and analog works are accepted. This applies to all of our content.

PLEASE NOTE: Most photo magazines and competitions require photographers to submit a limited number of images from a project or body of work. We realize how frustrating and limiting this could be. After all, requesting to submit 10 images from a body of work or visual narrative of, say, 50+ images is like asking a writer to submit a chapter from his/her book or a film director to submit a 5-minute excerpt from his/her movie. We find this very downplaying!

Therefore, we have decided we are going to do things differently: if your project consists of 100+ images, then be it. We want to see all of it!!! What’s more: we don’t request photographers to resize or rename images for us. You are free to submit images exactly how they are. You could even send us your full archive for us to look at if you want to! There’s only one caveat: we only accept links to folders which exist in Dropbox, Google Drive or any other cloud service. We do not accept WeTransfers/SwissTransfers or anything that expires nor do we accept images sent by email.

A Word About Our Selection and Notification Process
As a volunteer-based platform, we do our best to respond to all of you personally. However, due to the large volume of submissions and emails, it could take a while before you receive a response from us. Therefore, we cannot guarantee a specific deadline or timeframe for us to respond.

If your work is not selected, you are more than welcome to try again in the future with a different body of work. We run portfolio articles, online exhibitions, interviews, Instagram takeovers and more in our online space – so there are plenty of ways to have your work shown to our community.

A Word About Copyright

By submitting images for publication on Lucida’s online space you are stipulating to us that you own copyright to these images or have permission from the copyright holder to submit these images. You are granting Lucida a non-exclusive license to use the images in their submitted form, subject to resizing to fit the magazine formats, for publication on the Lucida website for as long as the website exists. Please note that back issues of Lucida may remain available in the archive for as long as the website exists. If an image is used as a cover for one of the magazine issues you are granting Lucida permission to use it for promotion on sites such as facebook.com, instagram.com and to put the Lucida logo on it.

None of the photographs may be downloaded, stored, printed, manipulated, distributed, or used in any form without prior written permission from the copyright holder. Works published on this website are protected under domestic and international copyright laws and are not considered to be public domain.

Take-down (unpublish) requests
As a matter of editorial policy, we do not unpublish content from past issues. Please do not submit photographs you do not want published online. See Copyright information above.
