Nostalgia For The Future | The question of what other worlds are possible? In science fiction, the rules of physics are different. exists a wide range of realities that could exist simultaneously. But we can also consider the possibility of internal worlds, in which our perceptions, our dreams and our aspirations create individual realities. In this way everyone creates their own. world based on their experiences and desires. Thus, the notion of worlds Possible parallels can range from alternative physical universes to subjective realities, inviting reflection on the nature of existence and human imagination. An aesthetics of mental projection explores this gap where dreams Perception and desire are intertwined.

Nostalgia for the Future evokes a fascinating reflection on time and human aspirations. This concept can interpreted as a feeling of melancholy or longing for future possibilities, often tinged with a certain beauty and fragility. It raises questions about our dreams, our fears, and our expectations about what will happen.

Melina Barberi is an Argentinian photographer who has been living in Riedisheim, France since 2024. She studied Visual Arts at the University of Buenos Aires. Her work has been exhibited at ArteBA, among other galleries. In France, she participated in collective exhibitions in Mulhouse. Winner of a prize to exhibit at Rencontres d’Arles 2025 at the Fisheye Gallery. She published 2 books: Interferences and Nostalgia for the Future. Featured in Fisheye Magazine (Paris), see:zeen, and Femlens-Sola Journal, among others. Contributor to the book Eyes of the World (Kamira Publishing) and Contemporary Photography Around the World (Soft Publishing Edition).

Her work is evocative. In her images, Melina plays with the duality between the organic and the supernatural. Melina is constantly searching for the sacred within the everyday; she transforms simple elements—a horse, water, undergrowth—into something mystical through the use of blinding light and sharp contrast.
