Blank Verse | Blank Verse begins from a persistent feeling of distance in the way I experience and interpret the world, as if perception itself were slightly displaced. Alongside this runs an ongoing need to understand, to shed light on every mystery and decode gestures, emotions, silences, and the invisible structures shaping human experience, resisting a complete surrender to chaotic subjectivity and the fear of deception.

In this series, I experience photography less as a tool of representation and more as a space where uncertainty can be held and reconfigured, giving me the opportunity to engage with the very act of searching as the protagonist being portrayed. Moving through the fragile space between observer and observed, the images reflect on unstable perception, multiple truths,

and the possibility that understanding may exist beyond language, as a quieter, intuitive form of connection.

Maria Siorba is a visual artist based in Athens, Greece, with an educational background in Fine Arts (Athens School of Fine Arts ’16), Graphic Design (AKTO ’10), Communication & Cultural Management (Panteion University ’08). Her photography, deeply tied to personal experience, explores human connections, the fragility of self-expression, the fluidity of truth, leading her to use the medium as a psychological and existential tool to uncover new layers of meaning and emotional resonance.

Besides visual arts, she works as a free-lance photographer and retoucher.
