Keilahn Aio | (“Keilahn aio, ovvero l’Altro Lato di Ieri”) is the title of a project consisting of a series of images and a self-published photographic book. It focuses on the long- lasting memories of places as they were perceived in one’s childhood, and how these individual collections of mementos compose the filter through which one sees the world. Triggered by my own experience of recalling long gone feelings and perceptions (like scents, sights and tactile sensations) just by travelling in distant places, I search for revelations in light and shadows, in order to create new meanings for collective storytelling. Abandoned environments become a nest for fears and desires while open landscapes let clusters of uncertainty and expectations float above and around us.

Acknowledging the existence of one’s own archive of affections, leads to the conclusion that if observation is objective, perceptions are private, they cannot disregard the observer; that is the reason why I try to engage with the audience and invite them to see pictures and colors through the filter of their own experiences.

The book has been shortlisted for the Milota Havránková Foundation Award (MHFAward) at the OFF Libris section at OFF Bratislava (2025) and for the Dummy Award at Athens Photo Festival (2026). It is also part of The Hub+ Archive Library in Thessaloniki, and the Volumes Archive in Zurich.

Visual artist, music addict and memories collector based in Milan, born in Tuscany in 1980. She studied Fashion and Costume design, Illustration and Photography; in 2001Anna starts working as a freelance graphic designer and photo retoucher. Since then, she’s also been creating original artworks, print runs, self-published fanzines and artist’s books.

Her motto, “One language is never enough”, well describes her practice, which involves various and often recycled materials that allow her to apply an evocative filter to her images, adding texture to the image surface and creating multiple narrative levels.

Her research explores memory, travel, sensory perception and one’s relationship with the environment, and she does so through landscape, nature, color and materials, which she considers to be “words” of a universal language.

She participates in group exhibitions and photography and publishing festivals in Italy and abroad and has had several solo exhibitions; to name a few: OFF Bratislava festival, The Art Chapter-Milan art book fair, a solo exhibition at Fraternita dei Laici Museum in Arezzo – IT and the collective exhibition “What is the first image you remember “in Tokyo – JP.
